Title: Human Resources Advisor-Labour Relations, WSIB
Report Location: 2000 Argentia Rd. – Mississauga
Reports to: Associate Director Human Resources
JOB SUMMARY
The Human Resources Advisor, reporting to the Associate Director Human Resources is responsible for providing support to internal client groups on Labour Relations issues, Attendance Management, Discipline and Grievance Process along with tracking related procedures at all stages. The incumbent is accountable for employee relations and will communicate and implement HR processes, procedures, and programs. This role will require updates to ensure that the company is current on human resources and labour legislation relative to the needs of the business.
JOB SCOPE
. Acts as a first point of contact and employee relations resource for Regional and Field Managers
. Provides counseling on attendance management, absenteeism and performance.
. Tracks attendance, reviews data and maintains records
. Implements Proactive Coaching Plans(PCP’s)
. Point person for all disciplines, including letter writing, discipline determination and maintains discipline log
. Tracks grievances and maintains records
. Counsels on WSIB issues, tracks employee progress and follows up on return to work programs
. Provides internal communication, presents policies and builds solid relationships with all client groups.
. Contract interpretation
. Attends Union member meetings as an observer
. Conducts exit interviews as required
. Follows up on monthly employee relations activities to ensure implementation
. Ensures best practices are followed by staying current with human resources legislation and communicating new information through human resources-bulletins
. All other duties/projects as assigned

. Excellent written and oral communication skills

. Proven ability to support labour relations in a unionized environment
. Strong analytical skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet challenging deadlines
. Strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
. Strong interpersonal skill and able to interact at all levels of the organization
. Proficient in Excel, Word, and Power Point
QUALIFICATIONS
. University degree preferable
. HR professional designation an asset. Company will support required development
. 3-5 years labour relations or union experience within a unionized environment
. Knowledge of the Employment Standards Act
WORKING CONDITIONS
. Provincial Head Office and Work Centre Environment
. Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with some evening and weekend work as required
. Extensive travel within Ontario is required
