PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Plan and develop quality stories for entrepreneurs
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, research and write timely features and briefs
- Edit all sections and freelance submissions
- Copy edit and proofread all sections
- Assign articles to freelance writers and industry contributors
- Attend industry events and conferences
- Maintain network of industry contacts and keep up to date on trends and issues
- Attend editorial meetings and brainstorm ideas for content
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Editorial team
External: Industry contacts, freelance writers
POSITION AUTHORITY/ ACCOUNTABILITY:
This position is directly accountable to the Editor
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- May be required to work overtime
- Local travel is required for conferences and industry events
Qualifications:
- Post secondary degree or diploma in journalism or equivalent work experience
- 2-3 years of editing/writing experience
- Strong writing and proofreading skills
- Excellent research skills
- Familiarity with MS Office, and experience in a MAC environment, including InDesign
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage time well in a multi-deadline environment
